Rocketeer

"Rocketeer" by The Aeronautical Legends is an absolutely gorgeous acoustic power pop record. Optimistic lyrics wrapped in stunning hooks and melodies wind their way through a pleasing balance of rock songs and sparse acoustic tracks. The lyrics and upbeat tone will draw some comparisons to Fountains of Wayne, while the rich acoustic textures lend a touch of refreshing alt-country flavour.
Customer Review: the reason music began...
One of the biggest lessons that I've come to learn from the great Chick Corea is that music is a means of communication. It sounds like a simple concept, but I think many bands these days get caught up in how THEY feel from playing their songs, instead of staying open-minded to what's being conveyed or translated to their audience. These Aeronautical Legends songs strip away the glam and ego, and instead focus on reaching a common ground with the listener. This is pure and honest songwriting that transcends genre, and even transcends the artist himself. These songs are reminders that despite our differences we are ultimately of one consciousness and history, even if some of us are too busy preaching (or even worse, lying) from behind a microphone or some other fa?ade to realize it. Rocketeer is a welcome reminder that you must be honest with yourself first before you can ever hope to communicate with others...

Latin American Music and Dance form a big part of Latin American culture. The ones that have got us Kiwis excited the most are Salsa, Merengue and Tango. Most Latin bands play a mixture of Salsa and Merengue when performing at Latin clubs around New Zealand. Tango seems to take a back seat and evenings usually start with Tango before the bands arrive. You will also find a bit of Cha Cha happening at the clubs, with the most popular song being "Let's Get Loud"! Most cities in New Zealand have adopted these dances as their own with training institutes and Latin clubs emerging everywhere. On the other hand, at the events you will also see a bit of Rueda with anything from 10 to 50 dancers in the circle.

As the population of dancers taking up Latin Americal dancing is increasing, other variations such as Mambo, Bachata, Cumbia, Rumba. Every now and then, there is an event that has a Bateria followed by Samba all round. Most Brazilian events in Wellington are organised by the guys at Wellington Batucada.

Having said that, Salsa is still the crowd pleaser. Cuban Style Salsa is more popular in New Zealand clubs, although Linear style is gaining in popularity. However, the best dancers seem to save their Linear moves for competitions and performances. With more and more Kiwi dancers getting into in, it shouldn't be long before we start seeing council organised events meant for hundreds of dancers. The new Waitangi Park in Wellington would be a perfect location for a community event of this kind.

Canciones De Mi Padre: A Romatic Evening In Old Mexico

Customer Review: conciones de mi padre
Love this DVD.I have 3 copies,2 in DVD, 1 in vhs. I also have all her Spanish CD's. She has such a beautiful voice.
Customer Review: I love it
I was really young when this came out, but I adored it. My father bought the soundtrack, and I watched it everytime it came on WTTW. My mom made a costume for me that was practically identical to the one Linda Ronstadt wore during "Y Andale." It made me want to learn more about my culture. I still love this concert, and now my son watches it with me.

A Tribute to Coldplay

Customer Review: AGAIN ... WHY???????????????
This is exactly the thing that begs the question WHY???????????? its no different from the other karaoke tribute albums to coldplay, the worst being "metal tribute to coldplay". Other than to milk more money from imbeciles who spend money blindly... this is the worst form of imitation... reducing coldplay's music to elevator muzak (see all the so called tribute albums listed on amazon) sigh
Customer Review: Who ARE these people?
I've never heard of any of the acts performing the songs. I'll stick with the real thing, thanks!

Learning Spanish can be a enjoyable and can be a very useful skill. With a growing Hispanic population, Spanish is the second most frequently spoken language in the United States and with up to 500 million speakers, one of the key second languages in the world.

Learning Spanish can open doors to employment in a variety of occupations such as in teaching, translation, interpreting, medicine, law, and the travel industry. It can also lead to an increase in efficiency in working with Hispanic workers lacking proficiency in English. With growing Latin American economies, proficiency in Spanish greatly improves your chances of success in job market dealing with these economies. Studying Spanish can be a fun task, as well as an important one.

Even if your just a casual traveler, learning Spanish can also be beneficial since most of the sign boards and instructions in Latin American are naturally written in Spanish. Learning it in order to learn food, communicate with locals and talk with taxi drivers will enhance the experience of your travels significantly, if travel is your primary goal.

Learning Spanish is one step to joining the ranks of businesses oriented toward the growing Hispanic market in the United States and abroad. Spanish is one of the great languages of the world. Learning Spanish is, as it is all over the western world, part of a world-class education. The Spanish language is spoken throughout Latin America, the Carribean, and in Spain.

Spanish is not easy and there is no single method can insure that the proficiency will be achieved without investment of time. So its important to vary your learning resources to insure that you maximize your language learning experience. Spanish is definitely easier than learning a non-European language, at least for most English speakers.

Choosing the right course or methodology is of course critical and that can make learning Spanish a cake walk or much more difficult. Much importance should be given to the various accent marks and proper pronunciation.

Learning the language doesn't require expensive personal tutors. So you want to be insure that you do not end up paying more money than is necessary. Learning Spanish is an ongoing and involved process. While you can't learn Spanish overnight, you can find resources that may give you an edge time wise and simply the amount of effort you exert.

A critical challenge to remember is that of vocabulary. Having used various books and courses to learn to read Spanish I found several to be of benefit. The most valuable ones were those who made sure to present new vocabulary first. Then a short story utilizing this new vocabulary in conjunction with previously learned vocabulary was presented. In terms of audio, a variety of excellent courses are available.

Jacob Lumbroso is a world traveler and an enthusiast for foreign languages, history, and foreign cultures. He writes articles on history and languages and has used Pimsleur Spanish Method courses to learn Spanish.

CP 9" & 10" Red Fiberglass Conga Set with Stand

Total height of the set ranges from 33" to 45-1/2" (from the floor to the top of the drum heads). A great conga set for musicians in the early elementary or middle school age range!

Are you a bride to be that totally walks to a different drum then everyone else? Not looking to do the traditional wedding ceremony and reception? Read on for what one creative bride did!

Ever feel like you should be back in the 70's? Perhaps the 80's? Maybe go so far as say you wish you were in the 20's? Well, you can be - if only for a day. Have a wedding that hops everyone into a time machine, and whirl back into the 20's where flappers and gangsters were the hip ones and no one had heard of todays issues. What a fantastic escape youll be providing for your guests.

Walk into a ballroom, which can be a modern style, no need to make it too expensive. There can be a small stage to one side where a band can play, or perhaps there can be a jukebox. Black, red, blue, and white are thrown everywhere, but the lighting can be slightly dim. There can be images painted on the wall of a big time city, to give the party a feel of being outdoors even if it is December in Upstate New York. The tables (how about black?) and chairs (how about red?) can be off against the walls, a few candles on top of each table, and the dance floor can be dead center. Although gangsters were notorious for running the cities, there was also a certain romance to this time period that is perfect to capitalize on.

From here there are two options that could be taken to keep this 1920's feel. Option one is to find a jukebox from the time period, and everyone can jam to the sounds played in the 1920's, from a newfangled gadget that was growing to be popular during that time period. Or option two, you can hire a band to play big band music from the time period you are shooting for, in this case, the 20's, and Jazz might be more suitable to tie along with the gangster and flapper theme. Or option 3 hire a DJ to mix period music from the twenties with todays dance tunes. Charleston versus Booty Dancing anyone?

Carry the gangster theme forward and you and your groom can be Bonnie and Clyde. Another option is for the bride to be decked out in a white flapper gown (See? You can still have the traditional wedding gown with a bit of you twist!) While the bridesmaids can be in the brides chosen color how about they also have a bit of the flapper look with a shorter bridesmaid dress and long pearl necklaces. Hats perched to the side in the same color replaces the stiff up do. The groom can be in a white gangster suit and his men can be in black gangster suits. Instead of walking down the aisle to the typical wedding theme, perhaps an upbeat jazz tune can be played instead (things to consider, would you rather the music being played live? Or through a jukebox? Either will provide that 20s feel to your guests.) The bride comes down the aisle, jazz music playing around her, her white flapper gown swishes with every step she takes, almost giving the illusion that she is dancing.

Food and wedding favors are a few other things to be considered. Caesar salad, and Cobb salad were growing in popularity, and items such as Baby Ruth, Betty Crocker, and Kool-Aid were entering into the mainstream. During this time wine, and other alcoholic beverages where quite popular, since they were also attempting to be banned. You know how you always want something you cant have! But you dont have to let Prohibition put a damper on your modern day party if you choose to serve alcohol at your reception make it fun with a Bonnie & Clyde martini that you created just for your day. Soft drinks are also perfectly acceptable along with a nice punch. Shrimp cocktail, and build your own tacos could always be fun, but may be too laid back for what you have in mind. If youd like a sit down dinner for the wedding, chicken is always a good alternative, in whatever form you think best and usually reasonably priced. Some unique wedding favors for the guests to take with could include be instant photos of themselves from Polaroid cameras placed throughout the reception to be inserted into the photo frame/place card holders you conveniently place at each place setting. Long fake pearls or small flapper purses for the women and luggage tags for the men. Or how about a fun candle favor think Lucky Luciano or Al Capone and go with a Lucky In Love candle set in black, red, and white a great way to let your guests remember the fun they had at your unique wedding reception.

With a wedding as unique as this one would be, your guests are sure to fondly remember and talk about your wedding day for years to come!

Customer Review: Very Simple to Use
Rosetta Stone is very simple to use. However having a Spanish book, or obviously a native speaker to supplement the software would make it much more effective. This is because of being tossed directly into the language without a clear translation leaves the door open for some confusion. Overall a great interactive product that is a strong foundation to start learning a new langauge.
Customer Review: YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS
You cannot legally sell this software when you are done with it. They threatened to sue me when I did - they said I had not bought the software, but a license for the software and it was nontransferrable - that I did not have the right to even GIVE it away.

Rough Guide to World Music Volume Two: Latin and North America, the Caribbean, Asia & the Pacific (Rough Guide Music Guides)

Customer Review: Extraordinary: Overwhelmingly Wonderful
The research here is remarkable. The scholarship is first-rate, the information exhaustive (although never definitive since world music grows with leaps and bounds moment by moment). I love dipping into this attractively illustrated, logically organized, and utterly helpful guide to find whole realms of sound which I not only didn't know existed but also could not even have imagined existed without the help of these fine fans of the music about which they write so clearly and well. The world today is a depressing place. Sorrow is everywhere one turns. But this celebration of music continually energizes and revivifies. Buy it; enjoy it; and expand your CD collection.
Customer Review: Everything V. 1 was for Middle-East, African, & European ...
... this one is for Latin & North American, Caribbean, Indian, Asian/Pacific idioms. I picked up the original '94 edition to explore World Beat rhythms in improvisatory settings, and was excited to hear the new edition would cover two volumes. I am NOT displeased !!

My grandmother would have referred to sensual marketing as brazen and bold, and she had a point. In her day, marketing was simple and basic. We didnt have exotic toys, technology, and exquisite choices to make over simple purchases.

To be sure, oranges or lemons were often the only citrus fruit available at her daddys store. Even then, it was seasonal, rarely available for more than a few weeks at a time. Now our choices are more diverse.

Not only do we have access to more variety, but the flavors have been genetically enhanced to enrich the quality. Sinfully delicious envelops an entirely new dimension than it did in my grandmothers day.

1. Colorize your products for marketing appeal.

Depending on what youre selling, the color may impact your market more than youd have thought. Food is repulsive in unnatural colors. Business supplies are unappealing in earth tones. And who wants to drive a car the color of aging avocados? Marketing with color is evident in packaging.

2. Appeal to the greater sensibilities with sound.

Motivation comes best with a persistently happy tempo. Funerals have more impact with subdued volume and slower paced music. But if youre dancing, the Rumba beat is perfect. Sound has a definite appeal to the buying crowd. Notice the music playing next time youre in a grocery or department store.

3. Sensual fascination may cause greater purchasing.

When you can appeal to more than one of the five natural senses, your product may appear more acceptable. Perhaps the more of the five senses you can impact, the better your chances of selling your product. Marketing for sensual appeal means the sound, aroma and appearance of your product must be appealing. Once you can attract those senses, you can begin working on the feel and taste of the item.

One way you can appeal to a customers taste is to show the product with food.

T-Shirt White " Love Latin Rap " Music

This is a great shirt. Great gift. All TopExpressions products are made under strict quality controls. 100% heavyweight cotton, weight aprox 9oz.

Blending in Socially

Let's begin with stereotypes. As mentioned above, there are blond haired, blue eyed Latin Americans. Some may be very tall or heavy as well. They might speak other languages, have spent time in another country, or live in mansions. Forget about stereotypes. The best thing to do is to come with an open mind and take in everything around you. Along with forgetting stereotypes, there are some cultural items to remember when coming to Latin America

One important thing to keep in mind is the personal space bubble. Here in Latin America, people stand closer together than those in other countries. Although it may seem intrusive when someone is just a few inches away from your nose, resist the temptation to step back. Personal space is just smaller here. When you're greeting or leaving women use air kisses near the check. When men greet men they usually shake hands and embrace, for greeting women they use air kisses. When leaving, make sure you say good-bye to everyone.

When meeting someone you'll be sure to find out that time is relative here in Latin America. If you're meeting someone for lunch at noon, don't be surprised if they're a half an hour late. They're not trying to be rude, that's just the way things are here. So next time you're meeting someone, try to be a little late as well.

Make an effort to learn a bit about the country's history and culture before you go. This is a great way to start a conversation. Latin Americans love conversation, so be ready to talk about anything. Try keeping abreast of the news, especially the local news as it's a favourite topic among Latin Americans. People here like to express themselves with gestures, so try using your hands when you talk. And remember about the personal space bubble? Since people here stand closer together when they talk, they don't need to talk so loudly, so lower your voice while carrying on a conversation or you'll be accused of shouting.

Speaking of talking, learning a bit of the language show that you're willing to make an effort to learn more about their country. Spanish is the main language used in Latin America. So if you learn the basics, you can use it in many countries. Portuguese is used in Brazil and French is still used in some countries as well. And as English is the world's language, most people, especially young people have a decent grasp on English. However, if you are going to use English to communicate, speak a bit slower and without slang. But at the same time, there's no need to shout or speak to people as if they were ignorant. Although they may not understand you, try writing things done. Latin Americans are very helpful and will go out of their way to show you where something is, so be considerate and make sure to thank them for helping you out.

Don't be afraid to try something new. Latin America has loads of local delicacies for you to try. When dining out, wait for others to be served before beginning. And be sure to hold your fork in one hand and your knife in the other. Cut one bite at a time and keep your fork and knife in the same hands, don't switch hands.

Going along with trying new things is venturing out and using the public transport. At first it may seem like a daunting task, as driving and organization may seem a bit iffy, but you'll get used to it. Besides being cheaper than taking taxis, it's safer as well.

Prices are somethings that might take some time to get used to. Although things might be considerably cheaper than in your home country, keep in mind that salaries might be lower. Don't go on and on about how cheap things are, because for those earning money in the local currency, they're not really that cheap.

Most importantly, remember that you're a guest and as such don't speak badly about the country you're in. Of course there are going to be differences, some good, some bad. But don't compare your country to theirs in a negative light. No one wants to hear how horrible their country is. Pay compliments instead. Latin Americans are proud of their culture and native people. Food, handicrafts and the arts are good things to compliment. It's best to take advantage of your time in the country and see some of the local festivals and events. They're unforgettable and are a great way to get an inside look at the culture.

When in Rome

So remember, blending physically and socially will greatly help you the next time you're in Latin America. Make an effort and you will be rewarded for doing so.
